Sunday Randomness #238 : gas price photo January 24, 2024 $2.379

Took a photo on a whim January 24, 2024.  Gas was $2.379 for the cheapest unleaded in Draper, UT.  There's a fairly new Dutch Bros. Coffee immediately on the west side of the Holiday gas station which is on a corner with a Auto Zone auto parts store to the north of the gas station.

The ongoing saga of B-B and B Part 30: Snow covered love

It started out with B-B doing zoomies and then merged into B and B-B wrestling in the snow.

This was during a late February snow storm and the pups came in covered in snow:

Followed by the love part:B helping to groom B-B since the snow sticks to him and she just shakes it off her slick fur.

Working a New Year's Eve Bash at the library

Aahhh...energy at the beginning of the evening around 8:30.  I had already worked a full day at my regular branch.

Apparently we were suppose to pose behind the circle, not in front but I still think it makes a great prom like photo.

When our guests arrived they approached the photo op circle and then they got to make a wish and hang it in the wishing tunnel.

Then they got mocktails in the flavor of Moscow Mule made from ginger beer, lime juice, and club soda. (shown below)

and/or Cosmo made from cranberry juice, lime juice, sparkling water, and orange juice. (shown below)

The balloons in the ballroom before the drop at midnight.

In the ballroom with around 30 seconds to go before midnight.

The wishing tunnel with a bunch a wishes for the new year. Mego worked the wishing tunnel and helped people hang their wishes.

Mego and myself  in a photo from my photo op station where I helped people get lined up with the camera rather than the monitor and did the count down and helped them do retakes if they desired. This was taken around 1 a.m. on New Year's Day January 1, 2023.  Honest exhaustion showing on both our faces.  We then took over 45 minutes to drive home in a snow storm.  (It's normally is a 20-25 minute drive.)  Despite that we obviously enjoyed ourselves because we've already signed up for more programs.

Baked Tortilla Snowflakes

How about a warm treat, reminiscent of a cold type of weather? Combine a handful of ingredients and you've got edible art that's almost like eating those delicious pastry sticks.

But with these goodies.....(some surprising good news for a new year diet!) you have almost all the crunchy goodness with a fraction of the mixed fats! I don't know about others, but we love cinnamon pie crust sticks-you know, the ones you make with the leftover pie crust dough?

But the fat of pie crust dough with its lard, shortening, butter and margarine....sigh....it just isn't kind to the hips or waistline.

So here we discovered Tortilla Snowflakes! They're simple to make and delicious to munch.

Get some of the refrigerated and uncooked flour tortillas (we get ours from Costco), butter, cinnamon sugar mixture and/or powdered sugar to a baking sheet. Introduce everyone.

Line baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Fold tortilla into quarters (half then half again). Use kitchen shears to cut designs to create snowflakes. Place tortilla (and scraps if desired) on lined baking sheet. Brush with butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture. (If using powdered sugar then just brush with butter and sprinkle on powdered sugar after they come out of the oven.) Have everyone talk about their hopes and dreams of bubbly sweet crunchiness before the tortillas enter the 375 degree F oven.

Bake your pieces of art for about 7-9 minutes or until they're browning on the edges. Remove from oven. (Now's the time to sprinkle on the white powdered sugar snow if you want the flocked effect.) Endeavor to let them cool for just a few seconds before the nibbling begins.
