A Distraction Deluge of Aquarium pics from Vancouver Part 10 : Misc and the end!

First up?  Some underwater green.  From plants to anemones...

Our trip to the Vancouver Aquarium was wonderful and we would recommend the excursion to others.  We would definitely be willing to go again!  For more information about the aquarium please visit: https://www.vanaqua.org/    Tickets currently range from $38 to $50 for general admission for ages 13-64 depending on how far in advance you buy your ticket and weekday vs. weekend.

And of course lots of fish...and the occasional turtle...

And now the last miscellaneous items to share from the aquarium:

more anemones and shrimp and sea stars...

Sunday Randomness #74: Oh, what can you find inside your library? ( A continuing tale-intermittently posted)

Did they want us to do the pressed-leaves-in-a-book art project? (Sent through the sorter and it actually made it all the way to the end to the exception bin!)

No case to return the missing disc?  No problem!  Just make a substitute case out of paper to deliver the disc back to the library in the book drop!  (Warning: Please don't try this at home kids-the chances of the disc getting damaged are just too high. Items in the book drop just pile on top of one another and a poor little disc in a paper case could suffer an untimely fate if a heavier book cousin were to land in the bin after.  And usually books brings more books along with them-it's rare that a single book is returned-they like to travel in packs.)

We were honestly happy that they found the book as referenced by their note-we just felt bad that they returned it to the wrong library system-oops!  (We sent it on its way back to the right library.)

Our library AC went out for about a month this summer-there were various attempts at levity. These included our manager buying us popsicles that we could have any time and many, many cartoons involving heat, hot, warmth, sweating, etc...

The after holiday reality check.

Our banned/challenged book display this year.  I volunteered and made the padlocks, flames, and signs.  After putting on a smattering of books, I requested help and my wonderful co-workers added more book selections, thus keeping the display filled.

Author #125: Daughter Leanne Campbell writes China Study Cookbook

The daughter of Dr. T. Colin Campbell (coauthor of The China Study) has written a cookbook titled (aptly) The China Study Cookbook.

We recently tried the Aztec Soup with onions, cayenne pepper, black beans, corn and lime juice in the base and topped with an avocado, tomato and cilantro salsa.  It was very filling and good at the same time.  It was better after a couple of days when the flavors had mellowed and blended more.  I think we may double the salsa next time since the avocado really added a mild creaminess to the soup which was of a spicy/sour blend with the cayenne and lime.

Sunday Randomness #102 Mystery plant

This has been growing in a crack in the backyard.  I identified the plant in general but I don't know the specific type.  Anyone else care to venture a guess?

If more people read this blog, I had even entertained thoughts of a prize for the first person to correctly name the plant type in the comments but then I thought I'd be too discouraged at the total lack of comments.

This is where one must be willing to take chances.   If I do get some comments I will mail out a crisp $1 bill to the first correct guess at the type of plant.  I know, not much of a prize, but hey, a dollar is a dollar.  It's still enough buy a small treat at most grocery stores.  If by chance you want to comment, feel free-just be sure to leave some sort of contact information if you'd like a chance at that one dollar bill.
