I appreciate the reminders on calendars of different days. Yes, there's probably always going to be some disagreement and compromise of what dates are significant to put on the calendar and I think discussion and debate benefit both parties if they are willing to listen to a viewpoint other than their own.
Anyway, I noticed that today is National Senior Citizens Day (in the United States). According to Proclamation 5847, signed on Aug. 19, 1988, President Ronald Reagan recognized the many contributions of senior citizens and since then the third Sunday of August is now known as National Senior Citizens Day. https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/proclamation-5847-national-senior-citizens-day-1988
I'm almost a week behind on National Navaho Code Talkers Day which was August. 14th. This was also designated by President Reagan in 1982. https://www.cia.gov/stories/story/navajo-code-talkers-and-the-unbreakable-code/
August 20, 2023 is also Lemonade Day and National Bacon Lovers Day.
Therefore, if you are so inclined, enjoy some lemonade (regular, pink, with mint, or without-plus many other variations) and bacon today as you celebrate the seniors in your life and appreciate that the Navaho Code talkers code was never broken.
